Detailed tour description:
Our 1 hour boat trip to Contoy Island takes us northeast of Cancun, past Isla Mujeres and Isla Blanca.
We enjoy the wonderful view of the Caribbean colours and occasionally we might see some turtle on the way.
Shortly before Isla Contoy we will reach the reef "Ixlache" - here begins the second longest reef in the world, the Belize Barrier Reef. During our snorkeling stop we explore the underwater world with its countless, colourful fish and various coral formations.
On arrival at Isla Contoy we will come across a deserted, paradisiacal beach. As we are the first ones on site, you can enjoy the peace and idyll in a very relaxed way. There is enough time for swimming and taking pictures before we go on a guided tour of the island.
We will show you the museum of the Contoy National Park and climb the lighthouse to enjoy the view over the island.
At the end of our stay on Contoy we will enjoy a fresh ceviche, sandwiches and fruits under "Palapas",
Next, our boat trip takes us to the contrasting and more lively island Isla Mujeres.
Here you will have free time to explore a part of the island. Stroll leisurely through the alleys of the old town, with souvenir shops, bars and colourful murals.
The white sandy beaches, or the promenade on the east coast, also invite you to take a walk or to relax before returning to your hotels.
Important information:
The island of Contoy is a national park, therefore smoking is not allowed during your stay on the island.
The Ixlaché Reef is exposed to changing current and visibility conditions. In exceptional cases , for safety reasons, we may not be able to snorkel there and will have to switch to another snorkeling spot.
Don't forget to take with you:
-
swimwear, towel, sunglasses, sun hat, sandals (closed shoes are not necessary)
-
long sleeve t-shirt for sun protection, snorkeling and swimming
-
biodegradable sunscreen
-
change of clothes if necessary
-
maybe a camera
-
money for personal expenses and tips where applicable, e.g. for our drivers and captains
